Admissions Process

Swanbourne House admits pupils across a wide range of academic ability. Entry into the Nursery and 4s will be based on a familiarisation in which we will be looking for the ability to socialise well with other pupils and to take part effectively in the classroom activities. For entry into other years in the Pre-Prep and the Prep School prospective pupils will take part in familiarisation and assessment as part of the admissions process. This is designed to identify pupils who are able to benefit from our balanced and well-rounded education as well as make a positive contribution towards the life of the school.

Prospective pupils may be registered for admission at any time after birth. We accept children into the Nursery in the term in which they reach their third birthday. The school is able to offer three intakes per year; at the start of the Spring Term in January, Summer Term in April and Autumn Term in September.

Children can join in any year group in which there is a vacancy. Pre-Prep pupils transfer to the Prep School at the age of seven and many pupils join us in the Prep School at the ages of eight and nine years. Places may also be available in other year groups.

Choosing the right school for your child is a very important decision for parents; we believe that a personal visit is invaluable. We welcome prospective parents and their children at any time and hope that you are able to visit, together with your family, to experience the warm and purposeful atmosphere at Swanbourne House. You are warmly invited to arrange a visit or request a prospectus. We look forward to meeting you soon!
